Cloakly is designed with privacy as the foundation. We explicitly do NOT collect:

• Content you redact or process
• Personal information from your documents
• Usage analytics or telemetry
• Crash reports or diagnostic data
• Your name, email, or contact information
• Device identifiers or location data

How Cloakly Works

Cloakly operates entirely on your device:

• Local Processing: All AI detection and redaction happens on your Mac. Nothing is sent to external servers.
• No Cloud Upload: Your documents never leave your device. We have no servers to store your files.
• No Internet Required: After installation, Cloakly works completely offline.
• No Account Required: You don't need to create an account or provide any personal information.

Information We DO Collect

The only information we interact with is:

• Purchase Information: When you upgrade to the Professional version, Apple handles the transaction through the App Store. We receive only a transaction receipt to verify your purchase. We never see your payment details.

Data Storage

Cloakly stores data only on your device:

• Application Preferences: Settings you configure (detection rules, UI preferences) are stored locally using macOS standard storage.
• Recent Files List: macOS may store references to recently opened files using secure-scoped bookmarks. These references stay on your device.
• Purchase Status: Your upgrade status is stored locally and verified through Apple's StoreKit framework.

Third-Party Services

Cloakly uses minimal third-party services:

• Apple App Store: For app distribution and in-app purchases. Apple's privacy policy applies to these transactions.
• Apple StoreKit: For purchase verification. This uses Apple's secure framework and does not share your data with us.

We do NOT use:

• Analytics services (Google Analytics, Mixpanel, etc.)
• Advertising networks
• Social media integrations
• Cloud storage services
• Third-party AI or processing services

Data Security

Your data security is ensured by:

• Local Processing: Since nothing is transmitted, there's no risk of interception.
• App Sandboxing: Cloakly runs in Apple's App Sandbox, limiting access to only the files you explicitly open.
• No Network Access: The app does not request or use network permissions (except for App Store purchases).
• Secure File Access: All file operations use macOS secure-scoped bookmarks.

GDPR Compliance

For users in the European Union:

• We don't process personal data, so GDPR data processing requirements don't apply to document content.
• You have complete control over your data since everything stays on your device.
• There's no data to export, delete, or rectify because we don't store any.

CCPA Compliance

For California residents:

• We do not sell your personal information.
• We do not collect personal information for commercial purposes.
• You have complete control as all processing is local.

Children's Privacy

Cloakly does not collect any information from anyone, including children under 13. The app is rated 4+ and is safe for all ages.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Since we don't collect your information, we have no way to notify you directly of changes.
