Getting Started

How do I start using Cloakly?

1. Open Cloakly
2. Click "Open File" to select a PDF or image
3. Click "Start Scan" to automatically detect sensitive information
4. Review the detected items
5. Click "Secure Export" to generate a redacted document

Supported File Formats

What file formats does Cloakly support?

• PDF files (both native and scanned)
• Image formats: PNG, JPEG, HEIC

Cloakly includes built-in OCR (Optical Character Recognition) to process scanned documents and images with text.

Detection Features

What types of information can Cloakly detect?

• Names and addresses
• Phone numbers
• Email addresses
• Government ID numbers (passports, driver's licenses, etc.)
• Bank account numbers
• Credit card numbers
• Faces in images and scanned documents
• Custom patterns you define

Privacy & Security

Is my data safe?

Yes! Cloakly processes everything locally on your Mac. Your documents are never uploaded to the cloud or any external server. All processing happens on your device, ensuring complete privacy and security.

Does Cloakly require an internet connection?

No. Cloakly works completely offline. The only time internet is needed is for the initial download from the Mac App Store and for in-app purchases.

Purchasing & Licensing

How do I restore my purchase?

Open Cloakly → Settings → Click "Restore Purchase". Your Professional version will be automatically restored if purchased with the same Apple ID.

What's the difference between Free and Professional versions?

• Free Version: Process up to 5 documents per month, all core features included
• Professional Version ($29.99): Unlimited documents, batch processing, custom detection rules, priority support

The Professional version is a one-time purchase with no subscription required.

Technical Requirements

What are the system requirements?

• macOS 14.0 or later
• Apple Silicon or Intel processor
• ~200 MB disk space

Batch Processing

How do I use batch processing? (Professional version)

1. Click the "Batch Processing" button in the toolbar
2. Add multiple PDF or image files
3. Configure detection settings
4. Click "Start Batch Process"
5. Review and export all processed documents

Troubleshooting

The app isn't detecting some information. What should I do?

• Use the manual selection tool to mark additional areas
• Check if the document quality is sufficient (for scanned documents)
• For custom patterns, add them in Settings → Detection Rules

Export failed. What went wrong?

• Ensure you have write permissions for the destination folder
• Check that you have sufficient disk space
• For password-protected PDFs, you must unlock them first
